Short title This Act may be cited as the Young Fishermen’s Development Extension Act . 2. Reauthorization of the Young Fishermen's Development Act Section 5(a) of the Young Fishermen's Development Act ( 33 U.S.C. 1144(a) ) is amended by striking 2026 and inserting 2031 . 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Young Fishermen’s Development Program Reauthorization Act . 2. Reauthorization of the Young Fishermen's Development Act The Young Fishermen's Development Act ( 33 U.S.C. 1141 et seq. ) is amended— (1) in section 4— (A) in subsection (a)— (i) in paragraph (5), by inserting , including crew management and disaster preparedness before the semicolon; (ii) in paragraph (6), by inserting seafood handling, after chain, ; (iii) by striking paragraph (11); (iv) in paragraph (10)— (I) by inserting technical assistance, before mentoring ; and (II) by striking and after the semicolon; and (v) by inserting after paragraph (10) the following: (11) fishing portfolio diversification and expansion; and (12) management of working waterfronts and related shoreside infrastructure. ; (B) in subsection (c)(2), by inserting but non-concurrent after consecutive ; and (C) in subsection (f)— (i) by redesignating paragraphs (1) through (5) as subparagraphs (A) through (E), respectively, and moving the margins of such subparagraphs 2 ems to the right; (ii) by striking In carrying out and inserting the following: (1) In general In carrying out ; and (iii) by adding at the end the following: (2) Tracking, identifying, and evaluating progress The Secretary of Commerce, acting through the National Sea Grant Office, shall, to the extent practicable, track the career progression of participants in the Program, identify those who subsequently enter or remain in commercial fisheries of the United States and the Great Lakes or related industries, and use these outcomes as a key factor in evaluating the effectiveness of, and future eligibility for, grant applications. ; and (2) in section 5(a), by striking 2022 through 2026 and inserting 2026 through 2031 .
