R. 4289 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES July 2, 2025 Mr. Vasquez (for himself and Mrs. Kiggans of Virginia ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services A BILL To amend title 10, United States Code, to reduce the distance required for the Secretary of Defense to reimburse travel expenses relating to specialty care, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the TRICARE Travel Improvement Act . 2. Reimbursement by the Secretary of Defense for travel expenses relating to specialty care Section 1074i of title 10, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (a)— (A) by striking In any case and inserting Except as provided in subsection (b), in any case ; and (B) by striking 100 miles and inserting 50 miles ; and (2) in subsection (b)— (A) by striking the heading and inserting Special rules for exceptional circumstances and military retirees and dependents .— ; (B) by striking The Secretary of Defense and inserting (1) The Secretary of Defense ; and (C) by inserting after paragraph (1), as designated by subparagraph (B) of this paragraph, the following new paragraph: (2) With respect to military retirees and their dependents, the Secretary shall administer subsection (a) by substituting 50 miles for 100 miles . .
