II 119th CONGRESS 1st Session S. 457 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES February 6 (legislative day, February 5), 2025 Mr. Lee (for himself and Mr. Curtis ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources A BILL To amend the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 to require the establishment of an additional Institute under that Act. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Utah Wildfire Research Institute Act of 2025 . 2. Additional Institute (a) In general Section 5(b)(2) of the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 ( 16 U.S.C. 6704(b)(2) ) is amended— (1) in subparagraph (B), by striking and at the end; (2) in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and (3) by adding at the end the following: (D) the State of Utah. . (b) Conforming amendment Section 5(e)(1) of the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 ( 16 U.S.C. 6704(e)(1) ) is amended by striking and Colorado and inserting Colorado, and Utah .
