II 119th CONGRESS 1st Session S. 2579 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES July 31, 2025 Ms. Lummis (for herself, Mr. Barrasso , Mr. Crapo , Mr. Ricketts , and Mr. Risch ) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works A BILL To rename the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Endangered Species Recovery Act of 2025 . 2. Renaming of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 to the Endangered Species Recovery Act (a) Renaming The first section of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 ( 16 U.S.C. 1531 note; Public Law 93–205 ) is amended by striking may be cited as the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and inserting may be cited as the Endangered Species Recovery Act . (b) References Any reference in a law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to the Endangered Species Act of 1973 shall be deemed to be a reference to the Endangered Species Recovery Act .
