I 119th CONGRESS 2d Session H. R. 7630 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES February 20, 2026 Mr. Perry introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs A BILL To prohibit United States recognition of the claims of sovereignty of South Ossetia or Abkhazia within the Republic of Georgia. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Republic of Georgia Sovereignty Act . 2. Prohibition against United States recognition of the claims of sovereignty of South Ossetia or Abkhazia within the Republic of Georgia (a) Statement of policy It is the policy of the United States not to recognize the claims of sovereignty of the following areas within the Republic of Georgia: (1) South Ossetia. (2) Abkhazia. (b) Prohibition In accordance with subsection (a), no Federal department or agency may take any action or extend any assistance that implies recognition of the claims of sovereignty of South Ossetia or Abkhazia within the Republic of Georgia, or any other closely related successor entities.
