Short title This Act may be cited as the Department of Homeland Security Officer for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Act . 2. Officer for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Section 705 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 345 ) is amended— (1) in subsection (a), by inserting appointed pursuant to section 103(d)(3), before who shall report ; (2) by redesignating subsection (b) as subsection (c); and (3) by inserting after subsection (a) the following new subsection: (b) Assignment of personnel The Secretary shall assign to the Officer permanent staff and resources to assist the Officer in carrying out the duties of the Officer under subsection (a). .
