119 HR 2755 IH: Lowboy Auto Hauler Fairness Act of 2025 U.S. House of Representatives 2025-04-09 text/xml EN Pursuant to Title 17 Section 105 of the United States Code, this file is not subject to copyright protection and is in the public domain. I 119th CONGRESS 1st Session H. R. 2755 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES April 9, 2025 Mr. Barrett introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure A BILL To amend title 49, United States Code, to increase the vehicle length limitation for truck tractor-lowboy trailer combinations, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Lowboy Auto Hauler Fairness Act of 2025 . 2. Length limitations Section 31111 of title 49, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (a) by adding at the end the following: (8) Lowboy trailer The term lowboy trailer means a semitrailer with a depressed section between the hitch and the first rear axle that is used specifically for the transport of assembled highway vehicles. ; (2) in subsection (b)(1)— (A) in subparagraph (G), by striking or ; (B) in subparagraph (H), by striking the period and inserting ; or ; and (C) by adding at the end the following: (I) imposes a vehicle length limitation of less than 80 feet on a truck tractor-lowboy trailer combination with a front overhang of less than 4 feet between the rear of the truck-tractor and the front of the lowboy trailer and a rear overhang of less than 6 feet, regardless of whether the truck-tractor is or is not capable of carrying cargo for the lowboy trailer to use the front and rear overhang. ; and (3) by adding at the end the following: (h) Exception for lowboy trailers Lowboy trailers shall be exempt from the rear overhang flag requirements of section 393.87 of title 49, Code of Federal Regulations. .
