R. 1259 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES February 12, 2025 Mr. Lynch (for himself, Mr. Connolly , Mrs. Trahan , Ms. Ross , Ms. Tokuda , Mr. DeSaulnier , Mr. Bishop , and Ms. Houlahan ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs A BILL To require the resumption of demining activities, the clearance of unexploded ordnance, the destruction of small arms, and related activities by the Department of State, and for other purposes. 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the The Global Demining Protection Act . 2. Resumption of activities required The Secretary of State shall take such steps as may be necessary to issue as soon as practicable after the date of the enactment of this Act a waiver, pursuant to the authority provided by section 3(e) of Executive Order 14169 (90 Fed. Reg. 8619; relating to reevaluating and realigning United States foreign aid), for the immediate resumption of all programs, projects, and activities of the Department of State relating to demining, the clearance of unexploded ordnance, or the destruction of small arms.
